THE MURDER OF JAMES DEAN

"THE MURDER OF JAMES DEAN"

a comedy short film
award-winning screenplay
by Michael R. Barnard.

It’s Hollywood.
A story like this will change their lives.
If they don’t kill each other first.

Here’s the story:

The MURDER of James Dean is a comedy about relationships, missed opportunities, and Hollywood. It pulls together two very different people — an over-the-hill screenwriter desperate for a way back into the Hollywood game and a young wannabe producer desperate for a way into the Hollywood game. Each has his own prejudice about the other; each has low expectations about the other.

They are brought together when a conspiracy theory about James Dean being murdered catches their attention, and each wants it to be a door opener that will launch their careers.

While the conspiracy theory is alive, the two oppose each other because of the desperate need for the story to be the big break each of them dreams of.

When the game unravels, hope collapses.

It’s only when the conspiracy theory disappears that they begin to see each other as fellow human beings.

Even today, people remember James Dean.
